Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not Genuine Supporters'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Increase Pressure on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed keeper Vicario were informed afterwards "they can't be true Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of scores in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth top-flight at home loss of 2025.

However the main talking point was Fulham's second goal when Vicario lost possession far outside his area.

He came out to deal with a long ball and took the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Moments later when the ball came to Vicario again, some Spurs fans booed him.

The team were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing sessions truly angered Frank.

"I heard some of our supporters apparently booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] cannot be real Spurs fans that act that way. Alright booing following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind one another going forward."

Kenny Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally preventable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He is a great squad member, he's a true leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game

Italy international Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated after the match that he had to accept the criticism.

"That goal was a mistake of mine, I accept responsibility for that," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad way. It was an even bigger mountain to climb."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It is on the team to stay increasingly composed, to focus on ourselves. The team is missing in composure and poise to reverse results. Today is a poor loss and it's tough to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's error, it was not an simple goal for Harry Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second longest-range Premier League goal of the season – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally too came on Saturday.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open net to target.

Ten moments passed between Vicario coming out of his box and Wilson striking – which was 5 moments after the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the area for a long time," Wilson said.

"It amazed me none of the defenders returned to the line. When not one of them defended the net, my eyes lit up somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of extra time. After that it was solely about attempting to make the correct connection and place it towards goal. I felt a good sense, the moment it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake led headlines, this was an overall poor day for Tottenham to extend their home woes.

This was their 10th home loss of 2025 in the league, a shared team record along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and champions Liverpool to come prior to the close of the season.

Just a single of those victories have occurred after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"When you're behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to work against you too – the opening was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost another match. Every game has a single story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are recording 9.5 attempts and three point two efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on file in a one season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He has taken a high profile job at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is pressure and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
