Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with performances this poor.”

He stated, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
