Mikel Arteta remains confident that his team can keep managing with fitness issues following confirming that forward Kai Havertz remains out for the coming weeks.
Extended Absence for Havertz
The German forward has been absent since the summer due to an operation on his knee. Hoped to return sooner, the manager stated the player encountered a problem when advancing his rehabilitation and was unable to move forward “to the next level.”
“Our experience helped us build a group that is much more reliable and has more options,” commented Arteta.
Selection Dilemma for Brentford Clash
This news creates a selection headache for the midweek match against Brentford. A decision is required between persisting with Mikel Merino, who scored as a makeshift striker last weekend, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who featured briefly from a muscle injury in the latter stages. He shared his personal desire to see him return. “Everyone is eager to have him. Honestly, he is a footballer who, in my view, I admire greatly for the qualities he offers to the team, but his character, his attitude. I watch him struggle on the sidelines.”
