Grief as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the 40-year-old presenter was approached by three individuals, one of whom began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The purpose of the shooting is unknown and no arrests have been made, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement said that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a location near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site supervising the setup of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, it was reported.
"The report indicates the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what resembled a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but fell down across the street.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the incident.
Important clues, like cartridges, were discovered at the location.

Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the shooting, and officers have been following their trail to determine their destination," remarked an authority figure.

His sister, Nicole Stock, expressed the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that was broadcast on a popular local digital satellite entertainment channel.
In addition to his role as a presenter, Stock was involved in various commercial activities, including private security, offering elite guarding services and managing safety for major functions across South Africa.
He was also understood to participate in property management and participated in building evictions.
