Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
