Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
